Teaching staff

Sharon ( Principal )

As the  Principal of Royal Far West School (RFWS) I feel proud to lead such a hard working and dedicated team of staff who support country students from rural and remote areas across NSW.

Every child has the right to the health, education and developmental care that will help them unlock their potential, and Royal Far West School certainly addresses these criteria and make a positive difference in a child's life.

The best teachers teach from the heart, not from the book. The staff at Royal Far West School have the biggest hearts!

I look forward to Welcoming students and families to Royal Far West School.

Marianne (Deputy Principal)

I consider myself so fortunate to be Deputy Principal of Royal Far West School. As someone who grew up in country NSW I understand the value of this service and enjoy connecting with students and their famlies during their visit.

In my role I am privileged to meet and engage with all students throughout the week both inside the classroom and on our Level 3 playground. Being able to move through classrooms and experience the amazing activities and experiences our team of phenomenal teachers provide is by far my favourite part of day.

I can't wait to warmly welcome you to Royal Far West School.

Kristy (Assistant principal)

I feel very lucky to be an Assistant Principal at Royal Far West School. I grew up in Sydney, but both of my parents are from small country towns, and I understand how important a place like Royal Far West School is for country kids. I have been a teacher for almost two decades and I have not experienced a place like Royal Far West School before. The staff here are so friendly and every week we get to welcome a new group of students through our doors for an incredible week filled with fun, laughter and learning. I look forward to meeting all of the families and young people that come to Royal Far West School.

Lynda (Assistant Principal)

Royal Far West School is most definitely my most favourite school, ever.

Every week, I get to meet the most amazing students for the first time and I also get to ‘catch up’ with old friends who may have been coming to this school for many years. It has been such a joy and honour to see these boys and girls grow up to be the most wonderful young adults you could ever hope to meet. What can be better than that?

Rose  (Purple Group  teacher)

I like  sport, cards and drama games.  Do you like poison ball, pat the ball, pac-man or silent chairs?  You will need to move fast!  Do you call it Oou-NO or You-NO?  Wait till you play the RFWS UNO rules!

Do you like to solve mysteries?  True or False  will have you thinking like a detective.

I look forward to meeting  you in the Echidna room.

Craig  (Green Group  teacher)

I've been a teacher for a long, long time.  I've also been a lot of other things:  I've had a go at everything from leading adventure camps to selling software to managing Olympic teams.  (Teaching is my favourite!)

Joanne  (Blue Group  teacher)

I'm a passionate early childhood special educator with a background in Special Education and felt this was a perfect fit. It is – I’ve been here for eight years!

I love seeing children learn through play and our specialsed support.

Kaz  (Casual teacher for all groups)

One of my favourite sounds at Royal Far West School is a knock on the classroom door. It either means that I am about to meet a new student and their family, or welcome back familiar faces.

I love the sound of laughter, shared stories and artwork being created inside the classroom. While outside, the calming sound of waves of Manly Beach continue to roll in. I wonder what your favourite sound will be when you come to see us?

I am looking forward to hearing you knock on the door.

Ruby  (Resource teacher)

I am very fortunate because I get to work with all our wonderful students that visit because I support teachers in all the classrooms.

My passion is delivering wellbeing activities that help students feel positive about themselves. My favourite activity is assisting students to identify their signature strengths. Do you know yours?

Louise (Learning support teacher, with a focus on literacy)

I have been a teacher for a long time but really love being part of the the Royal Far West School and meeting new students each week.

Supporting families while they are away from home and helping students feel welcome and happy in our school is the best job ever! I am lucky to meet everyone and enjoy some fun activities in each classroom. I especially love craft and cooking healthy food and playing games on the playground.

Christina (Learning support teacher, with a focus on literacy)

I feel so privileged to be part of the team at RFW school.  I have a background in Learning Diversity and Physical Education and love seeing all the smiles on our student's faces as they learn and play.  “Each of us shines in a different way, shine bright!”

Eileen (Early childhood teacher working with the SWAY team)

I have been a part of the RFWS teaching team for many years. My background is in Early Childhood Education. Supporting the children and families from rural and remote NSW is a privilege. I work on the SWAY (Sounds, Words, Aboriginal Language and Yarning) program.

SWAY is an oral language and early literacy program that is shared over 30 sites in NSW. Take a look at our website for more information.

Georgia (Primary teacher working with the SWAY team)

I love working at Royal Far West School and having the opportunity to meet and work with people from all over New South Wales. At school, my favourite activities are sport, maths and anything creative.
