Learning and support at Royal Far West School includes:
- reporting to schools with a holistic approach for the purpose of targeting the students point of need so they can reach their full learning potential
- child-focused observations and literacy assessments to provide support to clinical staff at Royal Far West and rural and distance education schools
- supporting Learning and Support staff and teachers in identifying and responding to the additional learning needs of students through a variety of platforms including video conferences, reports, and personal connections
- coordinating and providing resources and recommendations for students and families with additional learning and support needs to access quality learning
- providing local schools with strategies and information to assist students’ regulation, supporting them to be ‘ready to learn’
- understanding diverse learning needs, including the impact of multiple diagnoses
- the importance of social and emotional wellbeing for learning and friendships
- supporting family and students in key school transitions including starting kindergarten, high school or changing schools, and attendance
- providing support required to build teacher capacity so that all students access quality learning
- developing collaborative partnerships with the school, parents and carers as well as other professionals and the wider school community
- identifying appropriate adjustments and differentiated teaching strategies for individual students to support NCCD processes and Disability Standards for Education
