Visit to rural schools

Student and teacher

Our deputy principal Marianne, and one of our assistant principals, Kristy, are on a field trip visiting schools in the Dubbo area which have a connection with RFWS.

They had a very special visit to Cumnock Public School where each of the three classes were keen to show them what they were working on. The K/1 class performed Sing A Rainbow in sign language, the 2/3 class did a dramatic telling of a poem that they had been learning and the 4/5/6 class showed off both their maths skills and their Fractured Fairytales stories that they had been writing. Marianne and Kristy were both invited to choose at random one of the Fractured Fairytales and the children who wrote them would read them to the class. Out of the 16 children in that class, I happened to draw out the story of a student who came to visit us in Manly in week 7! She was delighted to read her story to the class, along with some gentle support from her teacher.

Royal Far West is a big part of this school’s narrative. The children all knew about RFW and RFWS and excitedly told us that they were holding a dress as a pirate day next week to raise money for RFW.
